Miswak and Ramadan
Using miswak is a Sunnah practice, and many Muslims make a point of keeping it up through Ramadan. Ramadan 2027 is expected to begin around February 8, 2027, depending on the moon sighting.
Siwak in the Sunnah
Hadith collections record that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) used siwak often, including when he woke at night. In a well-known hadith reported in Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim, he said that if it would not be hard on his community, he would have commanded them to use siwak before every prayer.
Using miswak while fasting
Many Muslims use miswak while fasting. Scholars differ on some details, such as using it after midday. If you are unsure what applies to you, ask your local imam or scholar.
